Getting Authorised

Getting authorised by the PRA and FCA doesn't need to involve hours of consultancy time nor should it break the bank. We offer a range of flexible options to support you in your application to the regulator.

When you ask the regulators to consider your application for authorisation they will expect you to know your application inside and out. The authorisations process has changed recently with the PRA and FCA looking to you as the business manager for answers if your application is not complete, or does not fully reflect your plans and activities.

So why not keep it simple. We've done the hard work for you by providing a range of templates and checklists in the shop indicating which areas you need to cover in your application, but we haven't written it for you.

You can supplement those tools with advice and guidance from us on specific aspects of your application. Leaving you in control of what you submit, after all you know your business better than anyone else.

Overall a far more cost effective solution and one that sets your business up for success because you remain in control.

Adding a new permission or perhaps seeking authorisation for the first time can be a daunting experience. It's not just about finding the right forms, giving the briefest response possible and clicking submit. You will need to consider carefully how you manage your relationship with the regulator, how well do they know your firm, its clients, services and products? How much of that has or will be changing?

At Leaman Crellin Limited, we've filled in the forms, presented the regulatory briefing, even been on the receiving end of some applications as a regulator. We've got it covered and we can help guide you through the process and time frames to help you register with the fca.

Our approach to authorisations is to be clear about what you need and when you need it. We work with you to identify what the regulator will need and focus on helping you plug the gaps. The end result should be a healthy relationship with your regulator and a clear way forward.

Case Study: Getting Authorised

Help! We need to review our permissions

The Head of Compliance at a corporate finance firm was worried that regulations may have changed considerably in the seven years since the company was authorised to do business.

Did they still hold the right permissions for their business model?

We ran a review to ensure we understood which of their activities and types of investment and services were subject to regulation and ensured the business knew what to do to comply with these.

We also found opportunities that enabled the firm to change fee block and so considerably reduce their regulatory fees and levies.
